What is the maximum amount of text a QR code can store?
A QR code can store up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters or 7,089 numeric characters at the lowest error correction level. However, more data means a more complex QR code with smaller modules — making it harder to scan, especially when printed small. For best scanning reliability, keep QR code content under 300 characters. URLs can be shortened using bit.ly or t.ly before encoding to reduce QR code complexity.
