About the RRB Photo & Signature Resizer
Railway recruitment is India's largest government hiring — a single NTPC or Group D notification draws over a crore of applications. Uploads are the confusing part, because RRB does not have one fixed photo size: every CEN sets its own specifications, and a size accepted in one can be rejected in the next. This resizer prepares your photo and signature to the most commonly used RRB window; the table below shows how specs vary. Specs checked October 2026 — always verify against your current CEN notification.
RRB Photo & Signature Sizes: How They Vary by CEN
| Upload | Used in some CENs | Used in other CENs |
| Photograph | 20KB – 50KB | 30KB – 70KB |
| Signature | 10KB – 20KB | 10KB – 40KB |
| Format | JPG / JPEG in effectively all CENs | |
| Photo Style | Recent colour photo, plain light background, full face visible | |
Use the table like this: find the photograph and signature section inside your CEN notification PDF (search the PDF for "photograph"), note the exact KB window, and only then resize. This tool's photo output lands near the middle of the 20KB–50KB window — also inside the 30KB–70KB window some CENs use. Its signature output can run up to the wider 40KB limit; if your CEN caps the signature at 20KB, pass the file through Compress Image to KB with a 15KB target.
A Note on Live Photo Capture
Some recent RRB recruitments have moved the photograph step to live capture — the portal asks you to take your photo through a webcam or phone camera during the form itself, instead of (or in addition to) uploading a file. Whether this applies to you depends on your CEN and the portal instructions. If your form offers only live capture, follow it in good light against a plain background, and keep your resized photo file for later stages.
How to Resize Your RRB Photo and Signature
- Check your CEN first
Open your notification PDF and note the exact photograph and signature KB windows for your CEN.
- Choose the document type
Select Photo for your photograph, or Signature for your signature.
- Upload your image
Click the upload button and pick the JPG or PNG image from your phone or computer.
- Resize & compress
Press the Resize & Compress button. The tool sets passport-style dimensions and compresses the file toward the standard RRB window automatically.
- Verify against your CEN
Check the downloaded file's size in its Properties. If your CEN uses a different window, adjust it with Compress Image to KB, then upload.

If the RRB Portal Still Rejects Your Upload
First, re-check the window in your CEN — the most common RRB rejection is a good file resized to a different CEN's specification. Second, verify the downloaded file: JPG format, size inside your window; candidates often upload the original by mistake. Third, look at the image: a dark face and a faint signature both fail scrutiny — re-shoot in daylight and re-sign boldly. Finally, rename the file with simple letters and numbers, and retry early in the morning when the portal is less loaded.
Common RRB Photo and Signature Mistakes
- Using another CEN's size — last year's NTPC specs do not carry over to this year's form.
- Old or filtered photo — the photo must be recent and unedited.
- Signature too light — a faint signature disappears after compression; sign boldly.
- Signature on lined paper — lines show through; use plain white paper.
- Uploading PNG or PDF — RRB accepts JPG/JPEG only.
- Skipping the notification check — two minutes in the CEN PDF saves a rejected application.
